Camry has long been one of America’s favorite cars. That's especially true in Portland, Beaverton, and the rest of our surrounding community. One reason for this is that Camry is always in touch with what Oregon sedan buyers want. Now Toyota is at it again, introducing the new seventh-generation Camry. And true to form, this Camry responds to what Wilsonville Toyota customers want. It’s no larger on the outside, yet has more room inside. It has more power than before yet also expected better fuel economy. It takes passive safety to a new level with 10 airbags. And that’s just scratching the surface of its improvements.

2012 Camry vs. 2012 Ford Fusion
  2012 Camry Hybrid
    vs. 2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid

2012   2011   Ford has been on somewhat of a roll lately, generating buzz and goodwill for being the only one of the Detroit Three to avoid bankruptcy and government assistance. And Ford has been pitching Fusion as a car that can finally top the Camry. Camry has long been one of America’s favorite cars. One reason is that Camry is in touch with what sedan buyers want. Now Toyota is at it again, introducing the new seventh-generation Camry. And true to form, this Camry should respond to what today’s buyers want. In other words, it takes a Camry to top a Camry.

10 airbags
Camry sets the standard with 10 airbags, including a front-passenger knee air airbag and rear outboard side airbags. Fusion, meanwhile, has six airbags.

Best seller
If you’re the best-selling car in America for 13 of the prior 14 years, you must be doing something right. Camry is like an arrow aimed at the bulls-eye of what shoppers want.

“Excellent value”
IntelliChoice.com ranked the 2011 Camry LE an “Excellent value” in recognition of its lower predicted five-year ownership costs relative to other mid-size cars. 2011 Fusion SE ranked as an “Average value”. Hover Note 1

Toyota Care
Camry includes Toyota Care—Toyota’s complimentary scheduled maintenance program—for all new retail purchasers. Ford doesn’t have a complimentary scheduled maintenance program for Fusion buyers. Hover Note 2

Better MPG ratings
Camry has impressive fuel economy ratings, proving that you don’t have to trade roominess and luxury features for efficiency. Fusion’s ratings are good, but they don’t match Camry’s. Hover Note 3

entune™
More and more, drivers want to stay connected while on the road. Camry responds by offering Toyota’s available Entune system. Entune includes popular mobile apps, data services and full featured navigation, all with touch-screen control and three years of complimentary access. Fusion SE buyers are out of luck if they want everything Camry offers. Hover Note 4

Display Audio
Tech-minded Camry LE shoppers will want to know about Display Audio, centralizing control of audio, wireless phone and audio streaming, vehicle customization settings and trip computer in one 6.1-inch LCD. Fusion SE shoppers have to move up the line to find something similar.

Sporty SE grade
For drivers wanting a more connected-feeling car, Camry offers the sporty SE grade, available in either four-cylinder or V6 configurations. Fusion’s Sport grade is a V6 only, so a buyer wanting a sporty fourcylinder Fusion can’t get the upgraded chassis that’s available on Camry SE 4-cylinder.
Sonata Hybrid is a good example of how the company seems to do it: find the market leader, then design a product seemingly very similar, but price it a bit lower. It’s no wonder that for Sonata Hybrid, Hyundai picked Camry Hybrid as the market leader. On dimensions and equipment, you’ll find they are indeed very similar. But not identical. Only Camry has Toyota-quality technology and convenience. Plus, only Camry has Toyota’s depth of experience with hybrid powertrains.

10 airbags

Camry Hybrid includes a front passenger knee airbag and rear outboard side airbags, for a total of 10 airbags. Sonata Hybrid can’t match this comprehensive collection.

Blind spot monitors
Camry Hybrid XLE features available blind spot monitors to help the driver be more aware of surroundings. Sonata Hybrid doesn’t offer this on any of its grades. Hover Note 1

Best seller

Want a company with experience? Camry has been the best-selling car in America for 13 of the prior 14 years. Sonata Hybrid hasn’t even been on the market that long.

“Excellent Value”
IntelliChoice.com ranked 2011 Camry Hybrid an “Excellent value,” ahead of Sonata’s “Above Average value” rating. Hover Note 2

Toyota Care

New retail buyers of Camry get the Toyota Care complimentary scheduled maintenance program at no extra cost. Hyundai doesn’t offer a similar program. Hover Note 3

Hybrid Synergy drive

Toyota is the world leader in hybrid-vehicle sales, more than 2.8 million strong and growing. Hyundai is a newcomer to the technology.

Better fuel economy estimates

Camry Hybrid has 22% better city fuel economy estimates than Sonata Hybrid. That means you'll have to buy an extra tank of gas in a Sonata for every 4-5 you'd buy in a Camry Hybrid. Remember, CITY fuel economy is the biggest economical advantage to having a hybrid vehicle at all. Hover Note 4

Optimized transmission

A key to engine efficiency is to operate it in the optimal rpm range, regardless of road speed. Nothing does that as well as a CVT, which has, in effect, an infinite number of ratios. Sonata has a conventional transmission limited to six forward ratios.

Choice of grades

Camry Hybrid is offered in a choice of grades designed to suit different buyer wants and needs. Sonata Hybrid is “one size fits all.” Sonata Hybrid is offered in only one grade and with one $5,000 (MSRP) option package. Aside from mats, an iPod® cable and mirror with compass and garage door opener, that’s it.

entune™

More and more, drivers want to stay connected while on the road. Camry Hybrid responds by offering Toyota’s available Entune system5, including popular mobile apps (Bing search, iHeartRadio, movietickets.com, OpenTable, more), data services (weather, traffic, fuel prices, stocks, sports) and full-featured navigation, all with touch-screen control and three years of complimentary access. Hyundai separates these into different packages, no apps, and complimentary services end in just 3-6 months. Hover Note 5

    vs. 2012 Ford Fusion Hybrid

Honda Accord is one of the few cars that can claim a reputation and legacy in the same class as Camry. Now Toyota is upping the ante, introducing the new seventh-generation Camry. And true to form, this Camry should be unequaled at providing what today’s buyers want. So let Accord keep trying, Camry is well positioned to keep its crown as America’s favorite car.

10 airbags
Camry sets the standard with 10 airbags, including a front passenger knee air airbag and rear outboard side airbags. Accord, meanwhile, has six airbags.

Blind spot monitors
Camry XLE is the first Camry to offer blind spot monitors built into the sideview mirrors. The monitors help drivers be more aware of their surroundings, even for things that may not be Camry Accord apparent in the mirror. Hover Note 1

Best seller
If you’re the best-selling car in America for 13 of the prior 14 years, you must be doing something right. Camry is like an arrow aimed at the bullseye of what shoppers want.

SmartChoice winner three times over
IntelliChoice.com awarded 2011 Camry a remarkable collection of three SmartChoice awards: one for maintenance cost, one for retained value, and one for ownership costs. In this race, Accord came in second, with two SmartChoice awards. Hover Note 2

Toyota Care
Camry includes Toyota Care—Toyota’s complimentary scheduled maintenance program—for all new retail purchasers. Honda doesn’t have a complimentary scheduled maintenance program for Accord buyers. Hover Note 3

Better MPG ratings
Camry has impressive fuel economy estimates, proving that you don’t have to trade roominess and luxury features for efficiency. Accord’s ratings are good, but they don’t beat Camry’s. Hover Note 4

Sporty SE grade
For drivers wanting a more connected-feeling car, Camry offers the sporty SE grade in either four cylinder or V6 configurations, both featuring tighter suspension tuning, paddle shifters and unique interior trim. Accord doesn’t offer a sport grade.

entune™
More and more, drivers want to stay connected while on the road. Camry responds by offering Toyota’s available Entune system, including popular mobile apps, data services and full featured navigation, all with touch-screen control and three years of complimentary access. Accord LX buyers have to move to an EX-L if they want any of these features. Hover Note 5

Display Audio
Tech-minded shoppers will want to know about Camry LE’s standard Display Audio. It centralizes control of audio, wireless phone and audio streaming, vehicle personalization settings and trip computer in one 6.1-inch LCD. Accord LX shoppers have to move up the line to find something similar.

The Korean brand recently redesigned Sonata to make it more dramatic looking, inside and out. Whether the car’s dynamic qualities have taken an equal leap is an open question. Still, there’s no denying Sonata is an attention getting car. Meanwhile, Toyota is introducing the new seventh-generation Camry. And true to form, this Camry should be unequaled at providing what today’s buyers want. So let Sonata keep trying, Camry is well positioned to keep its crown as America’s favorite car.

10 airbags
Camry sets the standard with 10 airbags, including a front-passenger knee air airbag and rear outboard side airbags. Sonata, meanwhile, has six airbags.

“Excellent value”
IntelliChoice.com ranked the 2011 Camry LE an “Excellent value”. 2011 Sonata GLS ranked as an “Average value”. Hover Note 2

Toyota Care
Camry includes Toyota Care—Toyota’s complimentary scheduled maintenance program—for all new retail purchasers. Hyundai doesn’t have a complimentary scheduled maintenance program for Sonata buyers. Hover Note 3

Available V6
Camry’s four-cylinder engine has a great balance of economy and power. But for those who want the extra smoothness and punch of a V6, there’s Camry SE and XLE V6. Sonata offers only four-cylinders, and its premium powerplant is a small 2.0-liter engine with turbocharging.

Display Audio
Tech-minded shoppers will want to know about Camry LE’s standard Display Audio, centralizing control of audio, wireless phone and audio streaming, vehicle customization settings and trip computer in one 6.1-inch LCD. Sonata GLS shoppers have to buy a nav package, which still doesn’t centralize all the functions that Display Audio does.

entune™
More and more, drivers want to stay connected while on the road. Camry responds by offering Toyota’s available Entune system, including popular mobile apps, data services and fullfeatured navigation, all with touch-screen control and three years of complimentary access. Hyundai separates these into different packages and still doesn’t include Entune’s mobile apps. Hover Note 4
While the Fusion Hybrid has copied many of the Camry Hybrid's specs, a wise hybrid sedan customer looks beyond the spec sheet. Observe the safety features, the hybrid drivetrain experience, and the value proposition. It's clear the Camry Hybrid goes far beyond anything Ford offers in the Fusion Hybrid.

10 airbags
Camry includes a front passenger knee airbag and rear outboard side airbags, for a total of 10 airbags! Fusion can’t match this comprehensive collection.

“Excellent value”

IntelliChoice.com ranked the 2011 Camry Hybrid an “Excellent value”. 2011 Fusion Hybrid ranked a step behind as an “Above average” value. Hover Note 1

Best seller

Camry has been the best-selling car in America for 13 of the prior 14 years. Fusion hasn’t even been on the market that long.

Toyota Care

New retail buyers of Camry get the Toyota Care complimentary scheduled maintenance program at no extra cost. Ford doesn’t offer a similar program. Hover Note 2

Hybrid Synergy drive

Toyota is the world leader in hybrid-vehicle sales, more than 2.8 million strong and growing. Ford is a relative newcomer to the technology (with help from Toyota!).

Better fuel economy estimates

Camry Hybrid LE (43/39) and XLE (42/38) have better estimated fuel economy than Fusion Hybrid (41/36). Hover Note 3

Higher net horsepower rating

There’s no conflict between power and economy when Camry Hybrid is rated for 200 net hybrid system horsepower, which is more than Fusion Hybrid. So with Camry Hybrid, you get power AND efficiency. Hover Note 4

Choice of grades

Camry Hybrid is offered in a choice of grades designed to suit different buyer wants and needs. Fusion Hybrid is “one size fits all.”

entune™

Camry’s available Entune is a telematics system that includes popular mobile apps and data services. Ford Fusion Hybrid with SYNC just doesn’t compare. Entune includes Navigation Maps and Services (weather, fuel prices, sports). Sync requires a separate nav package and extra service cost. Apps (Bing POI Search, iHeartRadio, movietickets.com, OpenTable, PANDORA) NOT available with SYNC. Entune includes 36 months of complimentary data access...SYNC just 6 months. Hover Note 5

2012 Camry vs. 2012 Nissan Altima
In the mid-size sedan marketplace, Nissan Altima may not be a headline-grabber, but it sure does sell well. Shoppers consider Altima both because of its Japanese-brand halo and because Nissan has positioned itself as a maker of “drivers’ cars.” However, Altima has never been able to catch Camry. One reason is that Camry is in touch with what sedan buyers want. Now Toyota is at it again, introducing the seventh-generation Camry.

10 airbags
Camry sets the standard with 10 airbags, including a front-passenger knee air airbag and rear outboard side airbags. Altima, meanwhile, has six airbags.

Blind spot monitors
Camry XLE is the first Toyota to offer blind spot monitors built into the side-view mirrors. The monitors help drivers be more aware of their surroundings. Hover Note 1

“Excellent value”
IntelliChoice.com ranked the 2011 Camry LE an “Excellent value” in recognition of its lower predicted 5-year ownership costs relative to other mid-size cars. 2011 Altima 2.5 S ranked a step behind as an “above average value”. Hover Note 3

Toyota Care
Camry includes Toyota Care—Toyota’s complimentary scheduled maintenance program—for all new retail purchasers. Nissan doesn’t have a complimentary scheduled maintenance program for Altima buyers. Hover Note 4

Better MPG estimates
Camry has impressive estimated fuel economy ratings, proving that you don’t have to trade roominess and luxury features just to get efficiency. Altima’s ratings are good, but they don’t match Camry’s. Hover Note 5

Sporty SE grade
For drivers wanting a more connected-feeling car, Camry offers the sporty SE grade, available in either four-cylinder or V6 configurations. Altima’s sport grade is a V6 only, so a buyer wanting a sporty four-cylinder version is out of luck. Plus, the 3.5 SR comes with a belt-driven CVT transmission that doesn’t feel particularly sporty or responsive to most drivers.

Display Audio
Tech-minded Camry LE shoppers will want to know about Display Audio, centralizing control of audio, wireless phone and audio streaming, vehicle personalization settings and trip computer in one 6.1-inch LCD. Altima 2.5 S shoppers have to buy a separate package to get an LCD audio system.

entune™
More and more, drivers want to stay connected while on the road. Camry responds by offering Toyota’s available Entune system6. Entune includes popular mobile apps, data services and full-featured navigation, all with touch-screen control and three years of complimentary access. Altima 2.5 S buyers have to buy multiple option packages, and the result still isn’t as complete as Entune. Hover Note 6
